About This Spot

Walking into Royal Buffet feels like stepping into a familiar neighborhood spot where the pace slows just enough to savor simple pleasures. Nestled quietly along San Mateo Boulevard, this eatery offers a casual, welcoming atmosphere where the hum of conversation mixes with quiet clinks of plates and soft footsteps. It isn’t a place trying to impress with flair or flash, but rather one that invites you to relax, explore, and find your own favorite corner amid its bustling, low-key setting.

The rhythm here is easygoing and unpretentious, a perfect backdrop for an unhurried meal where variety is the real star. The layout encourages wandering from station to station, engaging with a thoughtfully broad array of dishes that feel both familiar and freshly made. This is the kind of buffet where you might catch the warmth of freshly grilled seafood or the comforting touch of well-seasoned traditional Chinese fare, accompanied by a sushi bar that quietly holds its own with fresh accompaniments.

In this space, food isn’t just sustenance; it’s part of the shared experience. The buzz of satisfied diners reflects a collective appreciation for quality without pretense. The service adds a human warmth to the mix—attentive, personable, and mindful of the ebb and flow of the room, which helps make each visit feel casually special, even when the hour feels busy or laid back.

Royal Buffet fits into the fabric of Albuquerque dining as a spot where the everyday meets the enjoyable. It’s the kind of place you return to not just for the variety but for the moments it quietly fosters—whether a quick lunch, a casual dinner with friends, or a no-fuss meal where you can simply be, dig in, and savor a familiar comfort with a little something new on your plate.

This was my first visit. Very good food selection and variety, including non-Chinese dishes. The salmon was great and tasted really fresh. I was pleasantly surprised by the good quality of the food, considering it’s a buffet restaurant. I’m looking forward to my next visit.

Ya know, it’s a fricken cheap buffet. But overall, I had the time of my life here. And the clams are absolutely amazing. Nothing was bad and I really enjoyed myself.

We have been going to Royal Buffet since it opened so my husband would not let me complain. I think their food, waitress, grill cook, other workers are good. We always leave tips for waitress since they are all great. Today at 1:15 p.m We didn't have change so I asked the cashier for change & he kept $2.00 for himself. He had no other customers in line. I gave it to my husband without counting & he thought I kept it. We are honest people so I thought the cashier was too.

We haven't had a bad experience yet at the Royal Buffet. This is definitely the best Chinese all you can eat restaurant in Albuquerque.

This old Furr's Fresh Buffet building is perfect for this Chinese buffet. Food tasted good, well seasoned. Hot and sour was good. I got one chicken dish that was cold, so am concerned about that. Good sushi bar with fresh seaweed salad. Good variety of Chinese fare, with many chicken, beef, and seafood dishes.
